Donations and legacies

Masonic Housing Association is an exempt charity (Number 21444R) under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014, previously known as the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1965, and can receive charitable donations. In some cases Local House Committees also have their own charity.

Donations and legacies are used for the improvement of the quality of life of our tenants by the provision of amenities over and above those provided by Masonic Housing Association, for example outings, Christmas entertainment and extra community facilities.

Donations may attract Gift Aid and benefit the donor and the Association. Gift Aid Forms must accompany the donation. Legacies do not form part of a testator’s estate and are therefore exempt from Inheritance Tax.

Donations and legacies should be sent either to the Chairman of the Local House Committee, if you wish to donate to a specific Scheme, or to the Company Secretary of Masonic Housing Association who will also supply Gift Aid forms on request.
